Standard Sand CEN EN 196-1/ ISO679/ BS 196-1
METHODS CEMENT TESTING-STRENGTH
USAGE
Sand for mortar– strength measurement according to CEN EN 196-1
- Standard Sand EN 196-1
- Standard Sand ISO679 :2009
- Standard Sand BS 196-1
TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
The CEN standard sand (ISO standard sand) is a natural and siliceous sand (silica > 98%)
The grains are round-shaped. The sand is washed, dried, sieved and prepared in a modern workshop offering all guarantees of quality and regularity.
The sand is packaged in polyethylene bags, each containing 1 350 +/- 5 g.
CONTROLS
The particle size composition is determined by sieving complies with the requirements of standards EN 196-1 (§ 5) and ISO 679: 2009 (§ 5).
Square mesh size (mm) | Cumulative (%) retained |
|---|---|
0.08 | 99 ± 1 |
0.16 | 87 ± 5 |
0.50 | 67 ± 5 |
1.00 | 33 ± 5 |
1.60 | 7 ± 5 |
2.00 | 0 |
The other controls are bag weight, humidity level measurements and mechanical strength checks, according to the requirements of standards EN 196-1 (§ 11) and ISO 679: 2009 (§ 11).
To offer maximum regularity and neutrality of the sand in the mortars, SNL performs other regular tests such as absence of chlorine and clay-type pollutant (blue method), and absorption rate.
CONFORMITY
Compliance with the standard is checked by the L.E.M.V.P. (Laboratoire d’Essais des Matériaux de la Ville de Paris), 15 rue Jean Baptiste Berlier 75013 PARIS.
The certificate of compliance to the European standard is issued by AFNOR (Association Française de Normalisation), 11 Rue Francis de Pressensé – 93571 La Plaine Saint Denis Cedex.
DELIVERY
Deliveries are made individually, cartons of 16 bags weighing 21.6 kg. Our pallets include 2 to 54 cartons, protected by a polyethylene cover (road and sea transport) with a reinforced carton (sea transport only). The export pallets are treated NIMP15.
