Reference Materials and Reference Sand

European reference materials were created under the technical coordination of France-Ciments (formerly ATILH). All cements used as reference are standardised CEN EN 197-1 and can be used according to the test standard CEN EN 196-6.
The analyses and statistical consultations that led to the certification of these reference materials for cements were carried out by Alain Bonnet, Head of the Statistical Engineering Division of France-Ciments. This was based on inter-laboratory Round Robin Tests involving more than 170 laboratories, including certified European laboratories whose participation in this inter-laboratory is an integral part of their COFRAC certification.
The range includes reference cements for Blaine devices (SNC and SNT), particle size and chemistry (SN) and cements (SN RESI) to test and validate the correct methodology of CEN standard EN 196-1.
Since 2024, SNL has completed its range of reference cements with reference cements from the international RRT of Quantum Engineering, with the support of André-Marie Sevin, internationally recognized quality expert.
In 2025, SNL developed its new segment with a series of kits (SN KIT) aimed at facilitating the calibration and controls of equipment thanks to a wide range of analysis parameters.
This series of kits will soon be completed by a range of reference products (SN MAT) intended for cement and concrete laboratories (clinker, kiln feed, slag, alumina, iron, calcined clay, limestone, silica fumes, etc.).
